I am so excited to announce a very special event coming in March: The Loveys for Lil Ones Make-A-Long!
This will be a month-long event, where crafters can work together or independently to crochet or knit "Loveys" to donate to the Life Choices Medical Center in Harriman. These Loveys will become available to Life Choices clients, who may be looking for keepsake toys for their new babies!
For those who want to stitch together, join us for Make-A-Long-Mornings, every Saturday in March, starting at 10AM. For the first Make-A-Long-Morning, we'll bring some sweet treats for stitching fuel! These Mornings will be a great time to hang out with other makers and "oooh and ahhhh" over the endlessly cute possibilities of Loveys.

What are we making?
After talking with the Life Choices center about their current needs and thinking about our crafting community, Loveys seemed like a great fit! They combine the charm and playfulness of a toy with the comfort of a blanket while also being quick to make! We, as crafters, can enjoy some "squee" moments and quick gratification. Plus, Loveys can be crochet or knit, so every crafter can truly make a long together!
A quick search will provide an endless amount of Lovey (also called "Snugglers") patterns. Here are few ideas to get you started! Simply click on the picture to go to the pattern!
You can choose whatever your favorite Lovey pattern is! Your items should be the basic Lovey/Snuggler format: a stuffed animal head (for knitting - may not be stuffed) and a soft, unstuffed body or blanket-body.
What type of yarn do I use?
Many of the Lovey patterns I have seen use either a plushy, velvety-type yarn or a soft a cotton. The main thing is to remember that these toys are going to babies, so they need to be soft, washable, and free from irritants (smoke, pet hair, heavy fragrance).
We have placed an order for a whole new batch of Alize Velluto, which is a super-bulky velvety yarn, perfect for baby items! My favorite part about Alize Velluto: it doesn't shed!

Another yarn we carry that would work great for Loveys is Skipper by Kelbourne Woolens. This is a 100% Cotton that is both soft and strong. It comes in a very subtle color palette - calming and easy to coordinate. Shop our current stock here:
